Welcome to HOTEL AMBAR
HOTEL AMBAR stands as a budget-friendly option nestled in the heart of Mexico City’s historic Centro Historico. Located at San Jeronimo 105, this four-star hotel offers travelers affordable comfort just steps away from iconic landmarks such as El Zócalo, the Mexico City Museum, and a vibrant market bursting with craft stalls and street food vendors. Its central location invites guests to immerse themselves in the rich Aztec and colonial heritage that defines the area.
The rooms at HOTEL AMBAR are modest but meticulously maintained. Guests frequently note the cleanliness and fresh paint, which reflect the staff’s dedication to upkeep. Bathrooms are notably spacious and tidy, enhancing the overall sense of comfort despite the hotel’s economical pricing. However, the building’s age shows through in some aspects—like the thin walls and single power outlet placement—that may challenge those sensitive to noise or in need of multiple device charges. The nearby train station and bustling streets add an authentic urban soundtrack, though it might not suit light sleepers.
While the hotel lacks luxury amenities such as a pool or fitness center, HOTEL AMBAR compensates with essential conveniences like free Wi-Fi and parking, making it a practical choice for families and solo travelers alike. The hotel’s kid-friendly atmosphere and the accessibility to nearby attractions emphasize its role as a gateway to authentic experiences in Mexico City’s historic core.
The mixed customer feedback highlights a balance between value and limitations. Some guests praise the excellent service and unbeatable prices, while others find the noise and dated features less comfortable. Yet, these elements underscore the hotel’s honest appeal as a no-frills base for discovering the lively, culturally rich neighborhood of Cuauhtemoc.
In sum, HOTEL AMBAR invites visitors seeking genuine engagement with Mexico City’s history and daily life without the premium cost. Its prime location, combined with simple, clean accommodations, creates a basecamp for guests eager to explore and soak in the pulsating energy of the Centro Historico.

very clean, very good price, and right on historic downtown, just walking distance from a lot of activities, restaurants, museums, zocalo
It's okay. This place is less than a minute walk from the nearest train station and is in one of the buzzy areas of the city, with not a lot of tourists, if any! A very noisy part of town, and a run down hotel. There is only one power point in the room and that's next to the sink outside of the toilet. Towels have holes in them because they are so old. WiFi works well. The noise outside is very loud and starts at 8.30am and it's non stop until 10pm.
Great place to stay. Excellent service. Very good prices.
This hotel is one of the cheaper ones (600 pesos currently about 32dls) in the area and within walking distance of El Zócalo. The rooms were small rooms but very clean, and freshly painted. Bathrooms are roomy and also very clean. The hotel has a noisy elevator and it's very small. I could hear it from my room till 2 or 3 am. The rooms are not insulated so you will hear plenty of street noise suggest you ask for a room towards the center, away from the street and elevator.
